2011 Infiniti G25x Sport

Although I enjoyed my week behind the wheel of the G25, I still have questions about its viability at its pricing level. For a few thousand dollars less, this thing would be a bargain, but at the current price, though it falls a little too close to the much more desirable G37. That said, if you don’t care about horsepower and a sporty or firm suspension, the G25 offers up a supple ride, plenty of go power and lots of luxury at a reasonable price for the content.
Fuel consumption was reasonable for the week as well, although I couldn’t help but notice the tachometer being at or above 2,000 rpm in seventh gear at 100km/h. This surprised me, as I’ve driven much less powerful cars recently that turn the same revs with fewer gears and have no problems keeping their speed on the highway. I certainly did not expect to see 3,000 rpm on the tachometer without seriously breaking the law, but even with seven gears you can be cruising at that type of engine speed in the G25.
As far as gas mileage, I averaged 10.8L/100km this week, which was actually a lot of city driving this week, as I avoided the longer B-road route home in favour of the shorter distance and a multitude of traffic lights — I guess I’m a sucker for punishment. Not bad, but too bad about the requirement for premium, though when I’m sure regular would work just fine.
Overall, this is a beautiful car that may need a price adjustment if it doesn’t sell, but hey, maybe I’m totally wrong and these things will sell like hot cakes — only time will tell.
