The Gold Wing is a touring motorcycle built by Honda. The 1500cc version was first offered for sale in 1988 and was replaced by the GL 1800 in 2001. The GL 1500 Gold Wing came with fixed hard saddlebags and a comfortable passenger backrest for luxury touring.
Engine and Weight
- The last version of the Gold Wing, in 2000, had a 1520cc or 92.75 cubic inch engine with six cylinders in a boxer configuration. The engine was four stroke and liquid-cooled. The heavy bike weighed 820 lbs. dry as a result of carrying the luxury touring equipment, which affected the bike's performance. Due to this added weight, the five-speed transmission also boasted a reverse gear.
Power and Torque
- The six-cylinder boxer engine produced 100 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 110.6 ft-lbs at 4,000 rpm.
Speed
- The last version of the GL1500 Gold Wing had a reasonable top speed of 112 mph and took 5.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 mph.
